Happy Winter Monday Funday!
Dec. 21st is the first day of winter and it's when the sun on our sky's dome reaches its farthest southward point for the year. At this solstice, the Northern Hemisphere has its shortest day and longest night of the year.
And per NASA, a "great conjunction" occurs every 20 years as Jupiter and Saturn periodically align making these two outer planets appear close together in our nighttime sky. And, this is the "greatest" great conjunction between Jupiter and Saturn for the next 60 years, with the two planets not appearing this close in the sky until 2080.
So..get your telescope ready and mark your calendars!
